Rose McGowan (born September 5, 1973, Florence, Italy) is an American actress, director, writer, and activist known for her role in the #MeToo movement. She spent her childhood in the Children of God commune before moving to the US at age 10. McGowan debuted in film in 1992 and gained fame in 1996 with Wes Craven’s cult film "Scream." Her notable works include "Planet Terror," "Charlie’s Angels," "Black Orchid," and the TV series "Charmed" (2001–2006). In 2017, she was among the first to publicly accuse producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, sparking the #MeToo movement in Hollywood.
McGowan published her autobiography "Brave" in 2018, detailing her difficult experiences in the entertainment industry. Standing 163 cm tall, she has shifted focus from acting to directing, music, and activism in recent years.
